My sister has a family of Red-shouldered Hawks in her horse pasture in Crosby, TX. The two young hawks are beginning to fly from tree to ground and from tree to tree. Mom is always flying around talking to them. The light dominated the shoot. Front-light, backlight, side-light, sunlight, cloudy, overcast all called for intervention. My sister tells me that all you need to do is to whip out the Sony pocket camera and 'point and shoot.' All the different conditions of light set the different moods, while the young hawks displayed all the emotions, moods, and curiosity of my young grandkids. I took pictures there on the 23fd and returned on the 24th with a friend to take more photographs. There more overcast conditions and fewer with the some breaking through on the second day. We drove home in the midst of thunder and lightning. Today, the 25th, we returned to continued. We were lured back by the nice light conditions and the positive report concerning their activities.
