Bolivar Peninsula after Sunrise on 100309 : Photos along Bolivar Peninsula after sunrise on 100409. Fights of wave topping pelicans, sand-sifting and scurrying shore birds, and a finale featuring a shadow-dancing, mullet-munchin' Reddish Egret. According to some accounts, there are only a little over 1200 nesting pairs left of Reddish Egrets mostly in Texas. Stopped by Ananhuac NWR on way home to check on the recovery progress and water levels.

Bolivar - Gulls, Terns, Pipers and more... 5/14/09 : Went to Bolivar Beach on the west end. The beach was still littered with storm debre. Pockets of life have returned along the shore. Pelicans fly over in long wavy lines. Gulls, terns, and sandpipers scrurry along the shore and dart in and out of the surf. One lone member of the heron family guards a pool at the entrance onto the beach, a Reddish Egret.
